We will never understand love.
My name is Jamie.
I want so badly to be like Jesus.
The problem is, I can't grow a beard.

Your lists were nice, but you all forgot one…

Control- The Nothings From Nowhere
This record was 6 years in the making. Since their conception, TnFn was always a band that made the strides to be original. Being a part of the band from the beginning gave me give me alot of retrospect on how well crafted these songs really are. The arrogance in me swells sometimes, but with a sincere humble heart I want to offer to you one of the most heart felt releases of 2009. The album is called Control and it was inspired by you.
The eight songs that make Control all started on acoustic guitars. That’s an important aspect of song writing to me. From my perspective, a good song can be stripped to the barest of instrumentation and if proven worthy, will still be a good song in doing so. These songs are all about life as a person, not a girl or a boy. None of these songs talk about girls being evil or how awful the scene sucks. These songs are about growing up in a world that needs change. It’s about finding spirituality and how even in the brightest of lights, it can be dark and scary. Some of these songs have been around for a few years while some of them were written specifically for the message of Control.
Said message and why I think this record is an important call to you all:
Life is not about control. Investing so much energy into you’re own happiness will always leave you short. I’m getting old. I’m 24. I’ve been playing music in the “scene” for nearly a decade. I know what it’s like to want a girlfriend. I know what it’s like to want to be respected. I know what it’s like to think you know everything. But the most full I have ever been was when the words to these songs were born in my brain because I decided to give control of my life to Jesus Christ. I’m not skilled with evangelism and my gospel is usually spread by my actions of love. But there are few times like these where I can pour my heart out to you and prove how filling a life with God can be. These songs mean so much to me because they proved so many miracles in my life. The theme of this record is wanting something better. The idealistic core is renewal. The point is love.
I am an arrogant person and I won’t say I didn’t think TnFn wasn’t badass, because in fact I think we were very badass. But with my arrogance, I think the fact that I humbly let the band die in the midst of such an accomplished album can commemorate how important the ideas these songs entail. Live your life for something important. Always seek betterment and never settle for anything that doesn’t bring life. If there is one thing I want TnFn to be remembered by it’s this record. Let go of yourself and give up the control. Life’s waiting for you.
